Chairman

January 2007

I became chairman in January 2005 and will probably continue for another year.  In 2006 a major refurbishment of the Granary was carried out by our landlords the Lamp of Lothian Trust and an old building has once again taken on a new lease of life.
By the time Poldrate Arts and Crafts, (or Visual Arts Workshop, as it was then known) re-located to Poldrate Granary in the early 1980's it had already taken on a strong teaching role; that has continued to this day. Our classes are taken by practising artist/craftsmen, and women, if we must be politically correct!
Led by people enthusiastic about what they do the classes give practical hands-on experience.
Over and above our core subjects, drawing and painting, pottery, woodcarving etc. we've always been prepared to hold classes in other crafts, if there is a demand and if we can find a tutor!
We provide a good service of non-vocational classes; classes where you can come along and in informal surroundings, acquire a skill and meet like minded people.  We are always happy to welcome new members.
